It takes a lot of work to manage 3 or 4 sites, let alone 10. Does anyone actually make a living at domain flipping?

@Cameron: sure :) many people do!

Not sure if it's possible to manage so many domains while having a full-time job and a family to spend time with.

Flipping domains makes sense to me. But there's one piece of the puzzle that I don't understand, because I'm so new to this. How do you build the traffic for domains that have NO natural type-in traffic? Or in other words.... I'm starting at zero traffic. I can't expect any natural traffic. What are my first steps?

I appreciate how much information you share with your readers. Most hold their card pretty close to their chests. I have thought about domain flipping as a revenue source but to be honest seem like too much of a crap shoot. If you don't mind me asking- how much time a week do your think you spend at it?

Also- how are you building traffic for domain names that have have no intrinsic value? What is the standard for measuring traffic? Suing web stats and logs? Alexa?
    Thanks!

domain flipping sounds great in practice, but creating thousands of legitimate visitors is a big task. If you focus on a niche you enjoy (make a site about trucks if you like driving) your chance of success is much higher.
